Instructions for use of Premises  

Neithercut Woodland Reservation Form - please complete and submit to the Biology Department Office, Brooks Hall 217

Keys and Parking

Each group will be issued a W-1 key. This key 
will provide access to both the lodge and gates.
 

 Bring the keys back to Brooks 217 immediately after use.
 Weekend reservations should return keys first thing Monday morning.

One vehicle with supplies/equipment can unload at the building. After unloading, this vehicle should be returned to the parking lot (please do not attempt to drive a vehicle to the Lodge when the two-track is muddy). Vehicles are to be parked in the front parking lot only (the lot located near the main road).

It is important to park in the lot near the road to allow emergency vehicles (fire, ambulance, police) access to the building.  

Woodland Use

*     No outdoor bathroom facility exists at this time

*     If you smoke (outside of the lodge only) the
         cigarette butts should be taken out or deposited 
         in the garbage bin outside of the lodge.

*     Brush piles, logs, rocks, etc. have been added or
         are being maintained in several of the habitats
         along the trails. Because of the impact to long term
         study they should not be removed or disturbed.

Lodge Use 

*       NO ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES  are allowed in the Lodge or on the property.

*       NO SMOKING  is allowed in the lodge.

*       There are NO overnight stays allowed at Neithercut.

*       Bring your own coffee, snacks, etc.  Stove refrigerator, microwave and coffee urns (makes up to 90 cups) are provided for your convenience.

BEFORE YOU LEAVE

(Please complete this check-out list before you leave Neithercut)

*       Put books, magazines, plant and animal specimens, and all supplies and equipment away (make sure tools have been cleaned before putting them away).

 *      Sweep floors and vacuum carpet.

 *      Empty waste baskets and all garbage into a large plastic bag and place in large garbage bin outside the porch.

 *      Clean kitchenette (also,make sure range is off, coffee urns are unplugged and cleaned, and refrigerator door is closed).

 *      Arrange furniture as it was when you arrived.  

*      Turn BOTH thermostats down to 45-50 degrees (should be turned off 
in late spring, summer and early fall). CLOSE ALL WINDOWS

 *      If the fireplace was used make sure no flames remain, leave damper open, and close fireplace openings with glass doors.

 *      Turn off ceiling fan and all lights.

 *      Lock all windows, doors, and gates.

 

 


Garbage

Please put all garbage in a large plastic bag, close tightly, then place the bag in the large metal receptacle located out.

*PLEASE DO NOT PUT LOOSE GARBAGE 
 IN THE RECEPTACLE!
 

Heat

Please remember to turn down BOTH (two) thermostats to the LOW SETTING (NOT OFF), and CLOSE ALL WINDOWS!
